Tuktakamin Mountain stands at 5816 feet above the village of Falkland,   Highway 97 goes around the base of the mountain on 2 sides and there are numerous communications towers on top.  It is possible to drive to the top, but there is also a good loop trail that follows one ridge to the summit and another ridge down.

The trailhead can be hard to spot, hidden a bit in trees off the side of the road where there is no parking.   We turned around and parked lower and then walked back up to the trail.   Most of the trail to the top is on open rocky ridges with good views.

Seen here from the other (descent) ridge, the approach to the top is up a series of rocky ridges.

Estekwalan Mountain dominates the northern views.   That hike is one of the best in the Interior.

From the summit the view is over to the Fly Hills.   To the west is the Armstrong area with the Monashees in the distance.  The Okanagan Plateau hills are to the south.   In the far west the view extends to the Camelsfoot Ranges.

The loop trail is only 5.4 km long with 1540 feet of (lowest to highest) elevation gain, but there are several ups and downs to make it more challenging.   It is a good hike if we can ignore the comm towers and the road.   There were lots of wildflowers in bloom along the trail to provide some offset values.
