On the last day of 2024 and on the first day of 2025 I drove up the Lac le Jeune Road and parked at the Bush Lake – Dogwood Marshes pull-off/trailhead.    I set out both days with no particular route in mind.    For the first day I veered south then did two loops on stomped in tracks, making eclectic choices at intersections.   I could see snowshoe tracks, footprints, ski tracks, and fat tire tracks, all contributing to well-established routes on the snow.   Some images from this day are shared here.    Click an image for a lightbox (larger) view:

On the second day I returned to the same spot to snowshoe.    I headed north this time and did different loops, partly with a plan to explore some new tracks and partly to go through a known marsh.   All of the tracks were excellent and conditions were perfect for a day of snowshoeing in the forest and the marshes.

Dogwood Marshes gets its name from the marshlands surrounding Anderson Creek, which are flanked by red-osier dogwood.   I will snowshoe this area some more, but also will be on the Bush Lake Trails, Hull Hill, Lodgepole Lake, Lac le Jeune, Stake Lake, and other areas for January through early March.   A good start to the snowshoeing season!
