Logan Lake Trails
We hiked the trail network on the northeast side of Logan Lake. These were originally cross country ski trails but they have evolved into multi-use trails (hiking, xc skiing, snowshoeing, biking, horseback riding). There were about 36 km of trails, but the whole area was burned in the summer of 2021. Work has been done to remove the danger trees next to the main trails closer to the trailheads. There are stacks of logs and debris waiting for a fall burn. The outer trails will need further work. There are a few living trees near the entrance area (fire suppression saved them) and pockets of trees higher up, but most of the trees are black. Since most of the trail system is on south-facing slopes, the whole area has virtually no shade and is very dry. Anyone who uses the trails in summer should probably do so in the morning.
On a sunny morning we hiked a loop route through the trails.
There were lots of bluebirds (probably eating grasshoppers) and a few other birds, but in general the whole area was very quiet. A few images along the way are shared here. Click and image for a lightbox view.
We hiked mostly double tracks, but on the way back we followed some single tracks too, completing an 8.7 km loop route.
A few moments from our hike are shared here in a short YouTube video:
lac du bois overlaps the Logan Lake audio….!
When we embed a YouTube video we are actually playing it in YouTube and it may autoplay the next video without being told to.
