Greenstone Trails Ramble
There are number of single track trails on the northeast shoulder of Greenstone Mountain which can be hiked in 3 seasons. Some of the tracks are old skid roads, but most are trails developed by the biking community. There are some gentler climbs and some steep downhill trails. There is some signage, but mostly just trail names so hikers can explore, or use a mapping app to help with navigation. I mostly use Maps.me, but Trailforks, Gaia, and All Trails would also work. From the parking area (N50 38.319 W120 33.133), we can go up the road, turn left onto a double track, then turn left onto a trail to start on the Easy Does It Trail which follows Cherry Creek upstream. Alternately, we can down the road and take the first left turn onto the Trail. On this day we chose to go clockwise, then made eclectic choices along the way.
Much of the route is through douglas fir forest. Uphills are switchbacks and most of the grades are moderate.
We hiked out to a viewpoint on a rocky hill. the north side of Greenstone Mountain has numerous rocky hills and the trails wind through them, mostly east-west. We had wide views to the west as we ate our lunch.
We wound down the hills on trails and finihsed with an easy final section back to the start. A few images are shared here, all taken from the day of the hike. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
