Fight Lake Sunrise
We backpacked from the Philip Creek trailhead to Fight Lake, then camped overnight, climbing to the top of Battle Mountain on the second day. On the third day I was up for sunrise. The sun was rising in the east, still below Philip Mountain but the glow was on Fight Lake.
To the west some rain clouds were approaching Fight Lake Meadows, lit up by the low rays of the rising sun.
To the south the slopes of Table Mountain were bright with alpenglow.
The sun rose, lighting up the clouds, with rays of light crossing the hillside.
There was no wind at first so the sky was reflected in ponds in the meadows.
As dark clouds moved in from the west, a rainbow appeared between the sunlight meadows and the darker skies.
Some light rain moved through, sending us to our tents for while, but the skies cleared for our 9km backpack out to Philip Lake, then down the Philip Creek Valley to the trailhead.
