Exploring the Balancing Rock Hoodoos
We hiked to Balancing Rock and the line of hoodoos below on the slopes above Kamloops Lake. As part of a filming outing with CFJC, we explored the area, taking video footage as part of the day’s outing.
The “main feature” was Balancing Rock, a conglomerate pillar with a capstone in a gully leading down to the lake.
We hiked above, below, and around the pillar, but also down the line of hoodoos below, and across the grassy benchland overlooking the lake, taking photos and recording video clips, on a sunny day above Kamloops Lake.

On a day of just hiking, we usually go along the rim of the benchland toward Six Mile Point, and then back on a double track, but on this day, we hiked a smaller area, recording what we saw, with videos to be released at a later time.
