Dogwood Marshes – McConnell Lake Loop
On a mild winter day we snowshoed through the Dogwood Marshes and up to McConnell Lake, adding loop routes at either end, a six kilometer route on stomped-in tracks.
From the south end of the marshes, we went to a low-fence crossing, then up as single track trail to the slope above McConnell Lake. We passed by the Kamloops Fish and Wildlife Cabins and down to the lake.
The lake trail was stomped in, but I followed a track on the the lake a short way from the shoreline all the way to the McConnell Lake parking lot.
There are a number of large douglas fir trees on the north side of McConnell Lake.
We dropped down to the end of the marshes, then followed other trails on the eastern edge back toward the start.
The red-osier dogwoods were in full color as we followed tracks back to the trailhead/parking area.
This was a two hour snowshoe on established trails and is recommended.
