Copper Island Hike
On a calm and mild spring day I launched my kayak from the Scotch Creek Provincial Park boat launch area and paddled across to Copper Island. I landed on the east side of the island, secured the boat and the gear, put on some hiking shoes, and then hiked the Copper Island Trail.
The trail follows switchbacks up the southeast side of the island to the highest point, then winds along the top ridge to the west end cliffs. A switchback section then winds down to a rocky shelf area with great views and benches to sit on. The final part of the trail is a single track winding through the cedar forest on the north side, back to the start, a 2.6 km route.
A few images from the hike are shared here. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
There was a slight breeze out of the east for the paddle back to the start, a 7.25 km kayak and hike. We have done this route before and it is a much more pleasant in the spring spring than during busy months. A recommended outing.
Yes spring on the Shuswap is way quieter I never knew about the trail on the island though thank you for sharing
