Bestwick Hill
This is a hike that won’t have many takers, but its a nice area, especially if you are looking for a new hike. Bestwick Hill is the spreading summit which the Campbell Range Road and the Robbins Range Road goes around.
The simplest access routes are on the west and south sides, but they all involve climbing over a fenceline and crossing private or Crown-lease lands. We chose to take the long route. We started at an unfenced side road off the Robbins Range Road (at N 50° 35.364 W 120° 01.577) (east of the Buse trailhead) and as we worked our way west, we picked which forks to take on the way up the hill. This took us 5km but mainly followed double tracks. The same roads are used by ATVers and snowmobilers to get up onto the ridges. The final route up to the volcanic plug at the summit involves single tracks and a fence crossing. The top is a nice spot with good views all around.
As residents, my wife and I frequently hike in the Kamloops area and appreciate your efforts with this website.
I’m wondering if you would welcome guest submissions with photos? We often hike the Mara Mountain loop near Tranquille, the Gus Johnson trail around Lac Le Juene, Embleton mountain near Heffley Lake and trails in the Wells Gray Park.
We’d be happy to accept photos or guest postings. Mostly it will be matter of figuring out how to do that. What I can do is change a “subscriber’s” account to a “contributor” which means that we can receive postings and approve them. Photos can be inserted into the posting. If you would like us to change your account, let us know.
Sure, if you want to change my profile to contributor or contact me via email to supply me with an email address where I can forward photos and text in a suitable format… whichever you prefer.
As is the same as the Buse Hill trail, the access roads described here are through private property and do not have public easement. Vehicle access, including ATV’s and snowmobiles is not permitted although hiking traffic is welcomed.
