Back to Grafton
We revisited the ghost town of Grafton, Utah. The previous time was in 2013 and much was the same as before, but restoration work had progressed on the buildings, fences, gates, and property. A full website is also in place which has all the detail on the history, buildings, and restoration story – Grafton Heritage Project. To get to Grafton, turn onto Bridge Street in Rockville, cross the Virgin River, and follow the Grafton Road to the end.
We wandered around the buildings and fields enjoying a look back to 150 years ago. The backdrop to the western edge of Zion National Park makes for great photography.
This was one of the locations for the filming of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – the bicycle scene with “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head.”
We had been here before, but we were happy to return to walk through the ghost town.We walked though the area, then returned back onto the Grafton Road then turned to go up into the hills to hike the Eagle Crags Trail.
