Cwem Cwem and Beyond
From Trophy meadows another route (not a trail) is to contour around a gully and then up and over to Cwem Cwem Lake. This alpine tarn is the largest in the Trophies, but is completely invisible from the meadows or Plateau of the Lakes. It has some interesting islands and is a great photo spot. From the far shore, hikers can climb the south ridge or the east ridge of the Trophy 1 or pass through a high pass to the east and then up Trophy 3.
Another valley full of lakes lies to the east so exploration is worth another day of hiking. The perfect weekend would be to camp on the shores of Cwem Cwem and spend two days exploring the tarns and ridges of the Trophies.
