Jag Dewdrop Trolls
On a hot day we got an early start to hike a loop route in the hills. We followed Al Budreau (Kamloops Backcountry Hikes) who had developed a trail up and over Jag Hill.
Al led us up the steep trail on the southeast side of Jag Hill, starting on the Tranquille Criss Creek Road.
We hiked over the top of the hill and out to a few viewpoints of Red Plateau Escarpment and the Dewdrop Range below. We followed another trail that Al has cleared and marked, winding through the hills and around the gullies, making its way over to the Dewdrop Trail.
We hiked down the Dewdrop Trail, enjoying the views along the way.
Near the bottom of the trail, Al has developed another trail, connecting the Dewdrop Trail over to Garden of the Trolls. We enjoyed this section, hiking through open forest to the Trolls, wandering through the Trolls and then on a single track back to the trailhead. This was a 9km hike with lots of up and down. The trails are well-marked, but some route-finding may be required at certain points. There are lots of cairns and flagging tape to help out, but hikers will need to be watchful along the route.
A few moments of hiking this route are found on this YouTube video:
Our thanks to Al Budreau for all of his work on these trails. There are more posts on Jag Hill, Garden of the Trolls, and the Dewdrop Trail on this website. Use the Search Bar for more information.
