Around Edith Lake
On a sunny winter day we can drive up to Edith Lake and explore the lakeshore and the hills without crossing any fences. On this January day it was easy to follow a host of snowmobile tracks across the lake, over the shoulder of the hill, and an up-and-down route around the lake. The outlet to the lake is in the southeast corner which drains down to Anderson Creek. Aspen groves in the area are leafless in winter.
There are some trees on sheltered slopes, but it is mostly in the grasslands zone below the treeline.
Boots with traction devices were fine to hike on consolidated snow and snowmobile tracks.
On the way back across the lake there were a good number of ice-fishing tents and families near the shore, all enjoying a sunny winter day.
On this day, the route was about 3.6 km, another good day of winter hiking.
