Sallus Creek to the Fraser River
On a sunny spring day we drove west towards Lillooet, but turned down the Sallus Creek Road to Chimney Corner to hike the trail down to the Fraser River. The Sallus Creek Road was the old road connecting Pavilion to Lillooet but was replaced with what is now Highway 99.
The standing chimney is all that is left of the old building by the road. We parked there, then walked down the double rack to a lookout over the river. There was lots to see along the way. Click an image for a lightbox view.
From the lookout, we angled down toward the river on a single track.
We stopped at a small beach at the side of the river to have lunch.
This hike was only about 5 km return but we were happy to lope along, enjoying the fine views and exploring the river slopes.
